She has spent decades singing about miracles, but gospel powerhouse Sarah K has revealed she recently came face-to-face with one on Kenya’s most “treacherous” stretch of tarmac.
The award-winning singer has sensationally recounted a brush with death after a high-speed trailer nearly rammed into the van she was travelling in along the notorious Kikopey black spot on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
Addressing a stunned audience at the Thiigua mega crusade on Thursday, March 19, 2026, a visibly shaken Sarah K relived the final seconds where she believed her life—and the lives of her team—were about to end in a twisted heap of metal.
The nightmare began as Sarah K and her ministry team were returning from a mission at CITAM Church in Nakuru.
As their van climbed the hilly stretch of Kikopey—a section of the road infamous for its multiple lanes and deadly traffic flow—disaster struck.
While Sarah’s van moved steadily in the uphill lane, the downhill lane was heavily congested with crazy traffic.
In what the singer described as a dangerous and reckless move, a smaller van suddenly veered into their path to overtake, followed closely by a massive, high-speed trailer.
“The smaller vehicle managed to overtake successfully, but we were left facing the trailer, and it was coming directly at us,” Sarah K told the congregation.
“We started getting tense because it was in our lane, coming down, while we were going up.”
As the truck barreled toward them, the gravity of the situation became chillingly clear.
With heavy traffic on one side and a steep drop-off on the other, the gospel star realized they were trapped on a collision course.
“The trailer was moving at a fast speed… it became clear that there was no space for the trailer to return to its lane, and for us, we had no space to avoid it,” she narrated.
In that frightening moment of absolute helplessness, the singer says the cabin of the van erupted into a desperate prayer.
“The only name we remembered to call was Jesus. We started calling out, ‘Jesus Christ!’”
Then, the “impossible” happened.
Just as the team braced for a terrible crash, the heavy trailer—which should have taken hundreds of metres to slow down—came to a complete and abrupt stop metres from their bumper.
“You know it is not easy for a trailer to stop so suddenly when it is moving at such speed,” Sarah K noted, her voice filled with amazement.
She described the sudden halt as nothing short of a divine hand slamming on the brakes.
While the experience has left the legendary singer shaken to her core, she told the crusade that she is deeply grateful to be standing on stage.
