Revealed: Why 12,000 out of 16,000 students tested positive for STIs in Kirinyaga

At least 12,000 of the 16,000 pupils in Kirinyaga Central sub-county, according to Kennedy Machora, an education officer, have tested positive for STDs.

Several more students might be sick but be unaware of it, says Machora.

Authorities are still awaiting the results from July to December. This shocking data was from January to June of this year.
He revealed after inspecting schools, authorities from the education ministry came to an arrangement with the administrations to test all pupils.

He suggested that instead of allowing students to use PSVS, they could ride in vehicles that are shared with the general population.

Additionally, he advised parents to make sure their kids went to church even if their movements were restricted.

Investigations, according to Machora, have found that most students have unprotected intercourse on days when schools are closed and opened when they rent cars and consume drugs.
