Otile Brown has responded to the little drama going on between himself, actor Nick Mutuma, Kenyans and the whole of East and Central Africa population.
âDonât confuse hype with being global my friend,â he hissed.
Itâs easy to get caught up in the drama of âcelebrityâ âfeudsâ, but sometimes itâs important to take a step back and remember that itâs all just for entertainment.
After all, who really cares about whose team you are, Otile Brown or Nick Mutuma? Or from which part of the mentioned countries you are from?
At the end of the day, theyâre both just people with feelings and opinions â and they probably donât care as much about their âfeudâ as we do.
Anyway, these are some of the excerpts from singer Otile Brownâs page:
Some of yâall be acting like am downplaying Swahili. Lol! Swahili is my everything, it made me who I am today. Jaribu kuelewa nacho maanisha- wengi wana nia ya kushinda mjadala tu na sio kutafuta suluhu.
Donât confuse hype with being global my friend
Go to a global platform like Spotify and see how a song like #bounce by Lexil ft. me is doing. A song which some of yâall donât even mess with that much it has even made Lexil msanii wa juzi one of the most listened artists from the East, how? Itâs the sound na kizungu kiasi kilicho tumika, ila lazima ujua kukitumia and make it relatable to our people and the world, or else youâll sound like a wannabe coz our English so clean.

Â
Saw Nick Mutuma saying Swahili community is about 70 Million and so, we donât need the world and Iâm like why are we even having this conversation then?
Why are yâall comparing us then coz if thatâs the case then weâre doing just fine!
Why talk ish like we ainât doing enough?Coz if weâre talking global, then weâre talking O2 arena typa ish! Ainât talking Swahili community, and 2 or 3 African countries that messes with our music.

And I rest my case, donât get it twisted I love, respect Swahili and I believe in it and I will give more music in Swahili. And this conversation itâs for the entire East and Central African, not Kenya alone, youâve been programmed kuwekea Kenya lawama. If talking global, then itâs the whole of East, we got work to do.
