“5 years ago I believed in Khaligraph Jones, I was right to” Anyiko Owoko on how she first met Khaligraph Jones

It is safe to say that Anyiko Woko is the face of Kenyan entertainment PR, who is who in the entertainment knows who she is and she begun way back in KBC’s Grapevine. She is the Queen of PR, no pun intended

The other day she met up with Khaligraph Jones in his newly set up record label and management company, Blu Ink and it triggered some memories on how they first met in 2012 and she shared with us through her social media:

I first met Khaligraph probably late 2012 while still hosting Grapevine on KBC. Even though he had no name in the industry and no music video, he would persistently call me every day asking me to interview him because he said: “You will see how dope my rap is.” I believed him but my producer wouldn’t let me interview anyone without at least 3 music videos out. But Khali cajoled me every day, “You can ask Blaze or come record me at WAPI.” I asked, and then took it upon myself to go record his freestyle sessions at WAPI so as to produce more content that would replace his no-videos gap.

_____

The interview was dope | content-wise and we created a buzz. From then I knew he was the future. It’s one of those interviews I forced upon with all my might as my producer looked over me like – “Anyiko why don’t you give up?” Khali already had mixtapes out then, he brought me at least 3.

_____

Fast forward to yesterday when Khali invited me to his new studio set up and new imprint Blu Ink Corp. As we sat at the lounge discussing the past, present and future – it dawned on us that – that TV interview was the first he ever had! ❤️ Cheers to the OG now looking to sign up new acts and fly beyond boarders

I love everybody who loves everybody, somebody got to love somebody at some point.
Music is something that comes natural to everybody and it's a language that everybody can understand, I understand it and that's why I speak it
fluently, do you.
