Khadija Omari Kopa, a Taarab music singer and songwriter from Tanzania who is also the mother of the famous Bongo artist Zuchu, has spoken about the case of her daughter being hit while performing on stage.
Zuchu was hit by a projectile when she was performing on the stage in Mbeya at the Wasafi Festival 2023 which angered her and forced her to get off the stage.
According to Khadija Kopa, who is a veteran singer, such incidents are common when musicians perform on stage.
“Jambo la kurushiwa maji,mawe au pia kuvutwa nywele ni kawaida kwa wasanii, wengi wa wale wafuasi hufanya lile jambo ili waonekane lakini wengine pia hupagawa na furaha baada ya kunywa pombe jambo ambalo linawafanya kutenda vitendo kama hivyo kwa hivyo wasanii watarajie makubwa,” Kopa said.
In a live interview, Khadija Kopa advised artistes to endure all the evil they will face from their fans.
