Zari Hassan lost her mother Halima Hassan on 21st July 2017. Halima succumbed to diabetes after being admitted in hospital for a few weeks.

2017 was the worst year for Zari as tragedy after tragedy befell her. She lost her baby daddy Ivan Ssemwanga in May and two months later her mother Halima Hassan died. Months later Diamond was busy sleeping around with Hamisa Mobetto in Tanzania as she was away in South Africa.

Speaking during an interview with a South African TV in August 2018, Zari termed Diamond’s infidelity as a third funeral for her. She said Diamond humiliated her in a time of grief.

“I didn’t know that drama was happening behind my back. He let me get humiliated. That was a blow. Not only that but I had just lost Ivan and my mum and he is there with this girl serving me a third funeral,” said Zari.

Zari’s mother Halima Hassan passed on in the morning of July 20th at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala where she had been hospitalized for close to three weeks.

Her mom succumbed to diabetes after a long battle with the chronic disease. She was buried a day after her death in accordance with Islamic burial rituals.

On November 1st 2019, Zari took to social media to jot down a heartfelt letter to her late mom informing her how she is faring in life.

“Dear Mama, am doing well, hope you are too. Give my regards to God. Tell him am grateful🙏,” wrote Zari.
