Zahara who has four albums under her belt with one EP released her latest album ‘Mgodi’ late last year.
From her debut album ‘Loliwe’ which she released back in 2011, Zahara has been prolific over the years releasing an album every year with her sophomore album ‘The Beginning Live’ which was released in 2012 as a Live album released under TS Records.
In 2013 was her busy year as she released both an EP ‘Nelson Mandela’ with an album titled ‘Phendula’ after which she took a year off in 2014 and released another album ‘Country Girl’ in 2015.
Her latest album ‘Mgodi’ which was released in 13th October 2017 has 12 records with a video for ‘Mgodi’ already released officially on YouTube.
The album by the South African artiste, Zahara was a best-seller, going gold in only six hours and then achieving platinum status just 20 hours after it’s official release.
Mgodi was inspired by Zahara’s experiences with the intense public scrutiny that South Africa’s tabloid journalists have subjected her to during her career. The album was also influenced by her departure from her former label, TS Records, in December 2016.
Zahara recorded the album in Johannesburg with producer Mjalefa “Mjakes” Thebe. Her three sisters make an appearance on the album during the track “God in the Valley”
