Today and most probably in the coming few years, there is no denying that the Wakadinali rap duo will still command huge respect in the Kenyan rap game. Domani and Scar who both comprise of Wakadinali are both established artistes individually having accomplished a lot individually as solo artistes and also as a rap group.

Wakadinali are currently on top of everyone’s conversation when it comes to hip hop and with what they have been able to achieve without any record deals or major cosigns, Wakadinali are a force to reckon with without any shadow of doubt.

The two talented rap artistes brought out two of the best of the best rappers Kenya has ever seen in Khaligraph Jones and his mentor, Abbas Kubaff on their new record dubbed ‘High Noon’ and we can’t keep calm, we just can’t.

Everything you’d want to listen to when it comes to hip hop record it’s on the ‘High Noon’ record, from bars to lyricism, from authentic hip hop beats to rap flow to a catchy interesting hook, everything on the ‘High Noon’ record is way above every standard you had already set for a Kenyan record. Clearly and evidently Wakadinali are bringing back the authenticity of hip hop back in the country.

“…
peleka wazimu mathare
hatubongi ka hulipi hiyo story na usare
it’s funny sana venye maneno
haiwezi vunja yai
chungeni mbuzi zenyu
kitu ya mtu si rule yangu
first day alikuja
anadai akona boyfriend
saa hii anaspend time kwa room ya mine
amini usiamini ndugu zangu
…” an excerpt of Domani’s verse off the record

Wakadinali, Khaligraph Jones, Abbas Kubaff on the same record is nothing but trouble.

The ‘High Noon’ record is one song that you wouldn’t mind listening to over and over again because every single time you get to listening to it, it feels as if it’s the first time.

Quotable lyrics from Abbas Kubaff who opened up on the record

nimelay low key
niliangusha padlock
saa hii natoa lock
na mikono za Hancock
waliagiza tots
wakapewa ma head shots
one, two, three
niko fresh bila prince
uncle hanifeel
Aunt Vivian na Hilary
si wako na bills
hata ka sijawajazz
bado ntachill
mi sio Geofrey
lakini nadeliver at will
actually
hii ni rap for real
Khaligraph, Wakadinali na Abbas Dubeez
yeah
na amka mapema lately
siwezi mwaga unga
ju mkate ni basic
manna toka heaven ladha yake ni tasty
son blessed nilikuwa tangu the eighties

Khaligraph Jones quotable lyrics on the record

[cheki, listen]
nina miaka kadhaa kwa game
na mpaka sasa hawanigusi
wacha tu-distinguish
nani rapper nani p**sy
nani Shark yaani papa nani suchi
juu ma boy nili-inspire
ndio mpaka sasa wananitusi
but come to think of it
ndio rap iko
ku-disagree ni rapper mgani ataweka verse mwisho
as long as unaweza ronga
mistari zimetosha mboga
na rhyme scheme iko in order
na uko tactical
then it’s kid’s play easy
whether last ama kwanza
I swear mbogi yangu
ni ya wa ras na wajanja
we ni snitch unadhani mbona si ukushuku?
kutuseti ndio zako juu ya marupurupu
leave you in a coma
hapana alama ya dukuduku
na tukuteke kila kitu ubaki tupu tupu
na siezi mwaga unga
na nakula mboga usiku
na ka si deng’a
pia siwezi kosa kisu
mambleina wanazua
hawawezi kosa issue
industry ina ma-pirate
utadhani Mogadishu

Scar’s quotable lyrics

si uwongo beng beng na utagenya jiji
so watoto wadogo gang! gang! ndio kusema nini?
mmh
naona ni kama nyi mna-play na mimi
lakini swali bado ni moja
tutapenya lini?
so my broda enjoy your days
ju tushajua vile itaisha
either in jail or dead!
the radio don’t play me
so I play my way
anyway
my father told me
no pain, no gain
ju bado tuko underground
na sichoki
usidhani hii ni music money
ukinicheki na kipochi
sisoti, sikosi
asin
mlini-misjudge ju mlinicheki
na kitaxin na kichoki
yoh
so if I die
usisahau kuwaambia that I lived my life

Domani’s quotable verse

Mara beste ni kadera
Mara juzi niliona hadi Vera
mara zimenirunda kibera
Mara zimenirunda kivela
hakuna vile utajifanya hautuskii
venye hits tunapost
inaonekana we ndio mbleina
kila biz tuko strap na ki Jesus piece
tukifinish hatuonekani tena
trap trap bila burden
trap night kitusuru na karen
peleka wazimu mathare
hatubongi ka hulipi hiyo story na usare
it’s funny sana venye maneno
haiwezi vunja mayai
chungeni mbuzi zenyu
kitu ya mtu si rule yangu
first day alikuja
anadai akona boyfriend
saa hii anaspend time kwa room ya mine
amini usiamini ndugu zangu

I love everybody who loves everybody, somebody got to love somebody at some point.
Music is something that comes natural to everybody and it's a language that everybody can understand, I understand it and that's why I speak it
fluently, do you.
