#WhatIFWednesday: What if AKA worked with Khaligraph Jones on a song?

For almost every other rapper out there who’s successful in their music career, they are always keen on choosing who they are working with, and most often than not, the prerequisite that’s always required is simply having great music.

That being said, there has been a whole lot of good, collaboration hit records across Africa that will forever be timeless.

Through music, over the years, thanks to musicians, the gap between the two countries has been united after an established artiste from a different country gets to work with yet another certain established artiste from a different country to make a hit record.

A few samples of hit records without being so keen on the rap genre across Africa are; Wizboyy Ofuasia from Nigeria on his collaborative hit record dubbed ‘Lovinjitis’ that features Teeyah from Côte d’Ivoire, Tanzanian Diamond Platnumz working with Innoss’B’s hit record ‘Yope Remix’ that has over 114 million streams on YouTube alone and counting. Innoss’B is from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

There are so many other hit records that have come to become masterpieces after two great artistes jumped on a record together thanks to them merging their greatness into one great masterpiece of a song.

There are some collaborations that we as fans have been keen on looking forward to them even though some of our dreams might be futile but of course, Lupita Nyong’o once said, “dreams are valid,”.

Today being on a Wednesday, we can only imagine and hopefully wish that our dream come true of seeing South African rapper AKA alias the Supa Mega, and Kenyan rapper, Khaligraph Jones alias the OG gets to jump on a song together.

Let me just be the first to say that, if these two great lyricists, metaphor kings, and established rappers decide to work on a project together, Africa as we know it won’t be calm.

Khaligraph Jones

First off Khaligraph Jones already established himself as one of the hottest rap acts from the East African region and made a name for himself in Nigeria as well having worked with the best it has to offer on the Western region.

It’s believed that his record that he recorded with Sarkodie is slotted to be released soon even though we don’t have a timeline on that, it’s already on the pipeline.

Nasty C: It’s only AKA who can critic me and my character, no one else is allowed

Khaligraph Jones made his intentions known that he wanted to conquer the South(meaning South Africa in this context) as he has conquered other regions in the glorious continent.

Khaligraph Jones has managed to work with Sarkodie, PSquare’s Rudeboy, M.I Abaga on numerous records, and of course without forgetting the South, the self-proclaimed OG has worked with YoungstaCPT, Zoocci Coke Dope, and Big Star Johnson, all in one record dubbed ‘Just 2 Flex’ Remix that introduced Khaligraph Jones in the South African hip hop scene.

Coincidently speaking, the record was released under AKA’s record label, Vth Season which is the record label where AKA is currently signed under together with Sony Music, he signed the new partnership deal back in 2018.

“There’s never been a stronger combination than Vth Season and AKA, and we are happy to be a part of it once more. We all know that AKA is a great musician and we are excited to bring that to the world,” said Benza, Co-Founder of Vth Season.

C’mon now! if you don’t know who AKA the Supa Mega is and you are currently living in the African continent no matter which country you are from, I don’t believe you are in Africa.

AKA is a rap god in Africa and a lot of people actually know this to be a fact, it’s been rumored and alleged that Kanye West is the American AKA,  when the Supa Mega speaks, people tend to listen and listen attentively.

Khaligraph Jones breaks down his recording process: I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my music

AKA is bigger than life itself thanks to his demeanor, talent, music, fashion presence but more importantly about his love for the African continent.

AKA is as pan African to the core and he offers no apology about that whatsoever, the Supa Mega not only loves South Africa, his motherland, he loves AFRICA and that says a lot about his personality, he’s a “woke” rapper.

When it’s all said and done, AKA is one of the established, sought-after rappers Africa has ever produced, he belongs to the entire continent since he’s already surpassed the South African plateau.

What Kiernan Forbes has done in 5 years he’s been in the music industry is something that can’t and won’t be compared to anyone else in the music industry.

A few years, AKA was a point of reference when Nigerian heavyweight rapper, M.I Abaga released ‘You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives’ where Abaga gives props to South African rappers holding down hip hop’s realm in Africa

Why they should work together

Evidently, Khaligraph Jones real name Brian Robert Ouko is as talented as any other rapper in Africa and so is AKA, and Africa is bound to stand up in ovation after they put out a record together.

AKA and Khaligraph Jones both have a win in Soundcity MVP Awards as the best hip hop artiste in Africa.

AKA won the coveted award in 2019 and Khaligraph Jones won the same trophy in 2020.

Khaligraph Jones has helped put the Kenyan rappers on the scene with music and he’s carrying the hip hop scene alone in the back and so far he has aced in almost all of his collaborations and truth be told, he somewhat needs the challenge to prove he’s what he believes he is, the number 1 rapper across the continent.

AKA, on the other hand, has never worked with any other rapper from the East African region, granted, he’s worked with Diamond Platnumz a couple of years ago but Platnumz alias Simba doesn’t answer to being called a rapper, he’s a pop star, not a rapper.

AKA is a versatile artiste who can sing on his record, write a one-of-a-kind hook and also rap like no other in the rap game while Khaligraph Jones also proved recently that he can serenade a girl on a record if he needs to.

AKA who has been the face of the South Africa hip hop scene for years ought to dominate the East African region as much as he has dominated the South for years having worked with the best in West Africa as well in his lengthy career.

Truth be told, a collaboration of AKA and Khaligraph Jones won’t be a record that will see who will outshine the other but it will be a song that will uplift the entire continent to prove that Africa hip hop rappers deserve to be placed on a pedestal where the international upper echelon rappers are currently at.

Honestly speaking, a collaboration of Khaligraph Jones and AKA would blow everything else out of the water, it might just trend across all the countries in the sub-Saharan countries for days and all the while, uniting all Africans together the way Innoss’B’s hit song ‘Yope’ that features Diamond Platnumz did.

If there’s one thing, Africa, as a continent deserves and/or want for Christmas is a collaborative song between these two great GOATS.

Their song might just kick the COVID-19 pandemic away.
