P Unit’s Bon’eye recalled how the group snubbed Diamond Platnumz and even made a joke about his dry lips when he desperately begged them for collabo before his big breakthrough.

Speaking during an interview with SPM Buzz, Bon’eye remembered how Diamond approached them during their glory days and begged for a collaboration.

The veteran rapper said P Unit was in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania when Diamond approached them for a music collaboration.

Bon’eye shamelessly admitted that they made Diamond wait for them at their hotel lobby for four long hours only for them to deny him a collabo.

“Tulinyima Diamond collabo. Kuna time Diamond alitungojea kwa lobby Dar es Salaam for foue hours tukiwa kwa hoteli. Alikua anataka tufanye collabo na yeye na tukamnyima collabo,” Bon’eye.

Asked why they denied Diamond a collabo, Bon’eye said that they just didn’t like him and that one of P Unit’s members Gabu even joked that the now East Africa’s most successful musician had dry lips.

“Gabu alisema alikua ameparara lips but anyway long story short si kila mtu hupewa collabo,” Bon’eye.

Bon’eye added that Diamond had already written lyrics for his song ‘Ntampata Wapi’ which he wanted P Unit to collaborate with them.

He admitted that Diamond was so desperate for a collabo with P Unit that he even said it was the group featuring him in the song.

“But actually nakumbuka hio ngoma alikua ashaandika, na akaniimbia chorus ya hio ngoma hapo hapo kwa lobby. Na hio ngoma ni ile ‘ntampata wapi kama yule’. Hio ngoma ndo alikua ameandika na actually alisema alikua anataka ikue P Unit featuring Diamond,” Bon’eye said.

Diamond released ‘Ntampata Wapi’ in November 2014 after P Unit denied him a collabo. The song went on to be a big hit.

Even though they denied Diamond a collabo, Bon’eye admits that they helped him work with American rapper Rick Ross.

Bon’eye said they took Diamond to Lagos, Nigeria where he curtain raised for them. He added that the Tanzanian singer met Rick Ross’ management in Nigeria where he bagged a collabo with the American rapper.

“But hapo hapo ndo nlimshika mkono nkamuingiza kwa van ya MTV na hio ndo opportunity alipata tukaenda na yeye Lagos akatuimbia chorus ya ‘Kare’. Kuenda na yeye Lagos bado ndo alipata opportunity ya kumeet management ya Rick Ross. Na hivo hivo ndo alipata collabo na Rick Ross. So si ati opportunity ilipotea,” Bon’eye said.
