President Uhuru Kenyatta has made it clear once and for all about where he stands when it comes to supporting the next President of the Republic of Kenya ahead of the 2022 general elections.
There were speculations by different and/or a lot of political pundits that President Uhuru was likely to support Raila Odinga in the upcoming 2022 general elections after he intimated that he feels like it’s about time another community to take the top seat thus making the President seat rotational.
In recent history, Kalenjins and Kikuyus have always been the President of Kenya since Independence. President Uhuru Kenyatta intends that to change indefinitely so that other members of other communities in Kenya get a shot of becoming the President of the Republic.
On Monday, January 18 in his recent interview with a local radio station, the outgoing President said that Kenyans, by all means, are free to elect whoever they want to come 2022.

President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta who said he plans to retire once his term ends in 2022 dismissed claims that he is a dynasty as labeled by his Deputy, William Samoei Ruto explaining his standpoint in a rather unique analogy.
“If their logic is to say that because my father was the president, and I am the president today, then we are called dynasties, then in equal measure if your father was a doctor, and you are a doctor, then you have no right to take care of patients, well that is not my issue any way… that is why I said, if that is the logic, then if you are not ashamed of telling us that this and that family has ruled, why not say this and that community have ruled, and it is time for another? That issue seemed to have rubbed them the wrong way, that is why the whole week they have been bitter…it doesn’t have to be hustlers or dynasties, but my point is, don’t incite people,”
During the interview, President Uhuru Kenyatta made it clear once and for all that he doesn’t mind anyone throwing insults at him but what he won’t condone is anyone despite their stature incite communities against each other.
The President also stressed that he will never let anyone stop and/or derail any ongoing projects. That’s something he is taking really seriously.
“I am not worried about their insults, let them continue, but they should not try to incite people to chaos or stop ongoing projects if they do, just like I said the other day, they will know a lion that is rained on is not a cat,” he warned.

The outgoing President went on to add that he is more likely to retire as a farmer and/or continue to serve his country in whichever capacity after his presidency lapses in 2022 if any opportunity comes by.
“With regards to what I will do once my term comes to an end, there are a lot of options. There is much work to do, such as farming and any other responsibility God gives me.” the President added.
President Uhuru working with ODM leader Raila
Kenyans took notice of the public bromance displayed between Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta especially after the two political leaders through the handshake decided to work together harmoniously kicking the Deputy President William Ruto to the curb on their agreement while at it.
Allegedly the Deputy President wasn’t for the truce between them.
The handshake that took place on March 18, 2018, brought together President Uhuru’s camp and ODM leader Raila’s camp together which in the long run brought about the BBI(Building Bridges Initiative) that has split Uhuru and Ruto’s camp.

Since the handshake, Raila Odinga has been actively involved in running of government affairs being favored by President Uhuru breaking the bromance between Uhuru and Ruto that the duo was known by in Jubilee’s first term in State House.
Speaking with Kikuyu radio stations; Inooro, Kameme, and Gukena, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that the BBI is not about helping Raila Odinga at all but it’s for the betterment of all Kenyans at large.
“My greatest worry is that instead of leaders looking at the challenges facing our people and how to resolve them, they are busy politicking about 2022 and claiming that BBI is about helping Raila.
Where and when did I ever tell you that I am in this process for Raila? My interest is to achieve the promises I made to the Kenyan people, bringing them development and ensuring that they will never fight again,” said Kenyatta on Monday.
President Kenyatta urged politicians not to indulge in petty politics that might hinder the growth of developments in the country that will, in the long run, help all Kenyans lead a better life in the future.
“When the presidential election time comes, people will decide who they want, and we are watching keenly, and we will know who it shall be, but we first must ask ourselves what is important, let’s not bring in petty politics to tarnish a process that will yield results that will help our people in the long run.
Let’s not bring in personal politics instead of focusing on justice and fairness, for the Kenyan people to ensure they get their rightful share of resources and development without worrying so much who is in State House…that is what BBI is about, that is where I stand,” the President added.

Addressing the alleged report of the BBI referendum costing Kenyan taxpayers a whooping KShs. 2 billion, President Kenyatta accused the BBI critics of misleading Kenyans yet some of them steal much more money from the public coffers and they are not poking themselves.
“Even those talking about the cost of a referendum, I don’t know where they are getting those figures from…we are waiting for the signatures to be verified then take the process to the counties… these people don’t mislead the public that Ksh.2billion will be spent, yet what they steal everyday is more than Ksh.2 billion. These people are useless, and I will say it openly, how much do they spend every year? My interest is that more resources revert to the people at the grassroots,” said Kenyatta.
In Jubilee’s first term, Deputy President William Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta were inseparable.
That being said, political pundits have been keen to deduce that Uhuru Kenyatta has somewhat endorsed ODM leader, Raila Odinga for Presidency.
These are claims that President Uhuru has thwarted saying Kenyans are more than welcome to choose their President without him getting involved.
