The views on the top two most-watched Gengetone music videos on YouTube will surprise you

Kenya as a country has embraced the new genre on the block by the name of Gengetone coined after the genre that JuaCali, Mejja, Nonini, and others brought into the mainstream, Genge a couple of years ago.

Through the new genre of music that seems to have been accepted in the mainstream media for its originality, there has been a boom of new upcoming artistes who have since become established on the genre.

Artistes like ExRay, Benzema, Breeder LW, Odi Wa Murang’a, Peter Miracle Baby, Nellythegoon, Dmore, among others wouldn’t be known if it wasn’t for the successful mainstream breakthrough of Gengetone that has employed youth who would have been otherwise unemployed if Gengetone was not deemed a successful genre in the super-competitive music industry.

Along the way, there have been Gengetone groups like Sailors, Boondocks Gang, Ochungulo Family, Mbogi Genje and so many others that have since cashed in on the genre in the country releasing hit records under the new embraced Gengetone genre raking in millions and millions of YouTube views in a very short time.

Mainstream established artistes like Octopizzo and Jua Cali have already worked with Gengetone artistes with a promissory record already on the pipeline by Sauti Sol with Boondocks Gang.

Achieving YouTube views in Kenya was a phenomenal back in the day but thanks to Gengetone, achieving a million legit YouTube views is a no brainer today.

Currently, there are two most-watched Gengetone songs ever since Gengetone went mainstream.

The first most-watched YouTube Gengetone video in history has 6,938,137 million views and counting by the “Gengetone Queen” Nash and what makes the song most unique is that the song is only three months old.

The second most watch Youtube Gengetone video is Sailor’s ‘Wanyambez’ hit song that currently has 6,442,539 views at the time of publishing of this article.
