Taxi War Madness! Another Uber Taxi Burnt By Arsonists In Nairobi (Photos)

Conventional taxi operators have been protesting against Uber taxis for ‘pushing them out of business’ with their fare offers.

Uber taxis are way cheaper than conventional taxis and have since become a favorite of most City dwellers.

Uber operates on a mobile app where customers use their smartphones to submit a trip request which is then routed to Uber drivers.

Customers are also able to track the cab’s movements as they wait to be picked. Uber taxi drivers must fit a certain criteria eg. Must have received a clean bill of health from the police.

Most conventional taxi drivers can’t meet the requirement demanded by Uber to operate under their umbrella and as such they resorted to violence to stop Uber which is completely taking over the city.

A number of Uber vehicles have been torched by arsonists believed to be rival taxi operators who can’t stomach Uber.

Last night, Uber taxi driver escaped unhurt in attack by arsonists who burnt his Toyota Passo in Riruta, Nairobi.

The driver told police his car was burnt by 4 men at around 2am near Waithaka in Riruta.
