Thousands Gather To Bid Mohammed Ali The Final Goodbye As His Coffin Arrives Home For Funeral (Photos)

The world’s greatest died last Friday at a Phoenix-area hospital in Arizona state aged 74. Despite being a Muslim (Muslim are required to be buried within 48 hours after death), Mohammed Ali had to stay for a week before he will finally be buried today.

The greatest boxer of all time died after battling Parkinson’s disease for 32 years. Ali’s body was flown to his hometown in Louisville, Kentucky where he will be buried at Cave Hill Cemetery.

Thousands of mourners gathered in Louisville to view the casket carrying the remains of the fallen boxing great.

The coffin was covered with a mat written with Islamic words. The funeral service for Mohammed Ali will be held at a convention space in Freedom Hall today before the casket is ferried to Cave Hill Cemetery for burial.
