Tanzania gets rapid transit buses as Kenya is still struggling with matatus that clog roads (photos)

Tanzania is experiencing rapid economic growth and development under the stewardship of President John Pombe Magufuli.

The neighboring country recently launched Kigamboni Bridge which is the longest suspension bridge in East and Central Africa.

Tanzanian government is keen on improving the lives of its citizens as evident with the launch of Bus Rapid Transit (Dart) buses which started operations today.

The buses are driven in their own lanes and as such reduce traffic by a great deal since most residents in Dar es Salaam use Dala Dala, Tanzania’s equivalent of Kenya’s matatus.

Dar es Salaam residents will enjoy two days of free transport across the Coastal city. Commuters will be given cards and barcodes to pay once the electronic billing systems starts operating from Thursday.
