In anticipation of Boyz II Men’s upcoming tour in Africa, fans from the millennial and GenX generations are eagerly diving into their nostalgic music.

With a remarkable track record of 4 Grammys, 3 Billboard Awards, and 9 American Music Awards, the band is set to captivate Kenyan audiences on June 10.

Since the announcement of the tour, Spotify data reveals a staggering 416% surge in streams of Boyz II Men’s music.

Among their extensive discography, ‘End of the Road’ stands as a clear fan favorite. Moreover, the average number of streams and searches has experienced a significant uptick, with increases of 191% and 124% respectively.

This surge in popularity comes shortly after the exciting news of Boyz II Men’s first-ever performance on Kenyan soil as part of their Africa tour.

Boyz II Men played a significant role in the boy band phenomenon that swept the world in the 90s, sharing the spotlight with renowned groups like Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block, Blackstreet, and New Edition, among others.

Monica Kemoli-Savanne, Artist & Label Partnerships Manager for East Africa, acknowledges the profound hunger of Kenyan audiences for nostalgic music from the 90s. She emphasizes the influential power of nostalgia in sustaining fans’ love and loyalty, expressing delight in providing access to beloved music.

“Our Kenyan audience is really hungry for nostalgic music from the 90s. To say that the boy band era was huge back then would be an understatement. Nostalgia is a powerful tool for sustaining the love and loyalty of the fans so it’s a pleasure for us to support access to music that is well loved,” she said.
