Steph Kapela doesn’t need any introduction whatsoever in the music industry today, he has earned his stripes as one of the finest rappers and artistes Kenya has ever seen thus far.

The talented rapper representing the Kasarani neighborhood just released a new song dubbed ‘Kalesa na Leather’ that proves without any reasonable doubt that he’s way ahead of his time musically and his lyrics are way above your favorite rappers today.

Steph Kapela whose real name is Stephen Nyankuru has without reasonable doubt proved that he got what it takes to help shape the hip hop scene the way he sees fit in an effort to put our music on an international pedestal.

You might be right to say that he’s on his way to dominating the music industry as we know it today and we are here for it.

His latest offering ‘Kalesa na Leather’ easily convinces us and other music fanatics that he’s got what it takes to become the next big thing not only Kenya has seen but entire Africa has seen.

In the song which was produced by Luigi and mixed and mastered by Ivan Odie for Callivan Studios, he stresses that he’s a sharp dresser noting in verbatim that “I only walk in pure leather shoes, but I dress according to the weather” in the record though he rapped in sheng; “Kalesa napiga na leather, luku nacheza na weather.”

“The song is all about gratitude. In this era of social media, it’s very easy to feel like you’re lagging behind everyone who seems to be enjoying life,” the rapper who has worked with the likes of Khalighraph Jones, Muthoni Drummer Queen, and other notable artistes said speaking on the ‘Kalesa na Leather’ record.

“I want this song to remind people how far they’ve come and to flex on their level. We have every reason to celebrate growth and progress even as we continue with the process,” he added.
