Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is obviously sleeping on his job. Nairobians are grumbling about hawker infestation of the CBD but the governor seems not to be paying attention at all.
Sonko allowed hawkers to operate in the CBD from 2pm and the result of this is that Nairobi CBD now looks like Gikomba market.
Hawkers have taken over pedestrian walkways forcing people to walk on roads which are risky considering matatus have right of way in Nairobi.
Kenya Archives in particular is a hot spot for hawkers, waking through there is a nightmare for people since hawkers have taken over the space creating congestion.
Hawker infestation in the CBD has also attracted pickpockets and street urchins who now idle in areas flocked by hawkers.
Kenyans on Twitter has since expressed their anger with Sonko for turning the CBD into an open-air market. Some people say they would rather do with a corrupt Kidero than Sonko who has allowed the mess in CBD.
