Former Nairobi county governor, Gideon Mbuvi, popularly known as Mike Sonko, has offered to help former Citizen TV reporter Kimani Mbugua in his recovery journey.
Kimani has been struggling with psychological issues and is currently hospitalized at Mathare Hospital, where he is receiving special treatment.
According to comedian and former radio presenter Oga Obinna, who interviewed Sonko on his show, the young journalist is still undergoing treatment at Mathare Hospital.
However, in a shocking turn of events, Mike Sonko offered to transfer Kimani to Mombasa Women’s Hospital’s behavioral rehabilitation center after consulting with his parents.
In a statement posted on his Twitter page, Sonko said, “In consultation with Kimani Mbuguas parents, I will clear his Bill at Mathari Hospital & transfer him to Mombasa Womens hospital, a rehab centre. Currently, Conjestina Achieng is still there and doing well . I will also pay rent arrears of a veteran Journalist Eunice Omollo.”
Sonko made the offer after appearing on the Obinna Live program for an interview. During the interview, Obinna revealed that they plan to send Kimani to rehab for about a year.
Sonko volunteered to pay the bill at Mathare Hospital and then transfer Kimani to the behavioral rehabilitation center in Mombasa.
The politician also offered to take Kimani’s parents on a vacation in Mombasa for several days, where they can have a rest after what they have been through.
Additionally, Sonko volunteered to help pay the house rent arrears of veteran journalist Eunice Ommolo, who is currently undergoing treatment.
