Selena Gomez says she needs a break from Instagram and is going to delete her account after being blasted for her comments about the ongoing Israel/Gaza war.

The American singer came under scathing attack after she broke her silence about the ongoing war.

Gomez said her heart breaks to see all the horror, hate, violence, and terror that is going on in the world.

The 31-year-old added that she had been taking occasional breaks from social media as she was sick tired of reading and seeing the death and destruction that was happening.

“I’m taking a break and deleting my Instagram. I’m done. I do not support any of what’s going on. People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any one group is horrific.

“We need to protect ALL people, especially children and stop the violence for good. I’m sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can’t stand by innocent people [getting] hurt. That’s what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won’t,’ Selena wrote.

Selena Gomez was however attacked for not doing enough as a celebrity to help change the situation in Gaza where the war has ravaged the enclave causing wanton civilian deaths and suffering.

Many people wanted Selena Gomez to use her influence to call for a cease fire in Gaza.

Following the trolling, Selena Gomez posted and then deleted an IG story Thursday November 3, 2023, where she revealed her plan to delete her Instagram account altogether.

“I’m taking a break and deleting my Instagram. I’m done. I do not support any of what’s going on,” she wrote.

Selena Gomez is among the most followed people on Instagram. She has 430 million followers on the platform, deleting her account would not only be a shock to many but also a loss of revenue stream for her.
