AFRIMA(All Africa Music Awards) has released the lists of nominated artistes in their upcoming annual awards that have lots of stellar nominations this year than any other year.
The African Union Commission (AUC) and The International Committee of All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) have released the 2021 nominees list. The list, released on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 was from the over 8,880 songs submitted for adjudication.
It features over 400 songs from artistes in the 30 continental and 10 regional categories cutting across African talents and creatives living on the continent and in the Diaspora.
Leading the 2021 AFRIMA nominations scorecard is South Africa’s sensation duo, Blaq Diamond with eight nominations for their song, ‘SummerYoMuthi’ in ‘Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa’, ‘Artiste of the Year in Africa’, ‘Song of the Year in Africa’, ‘Producer of the Year in Africa’, ‘Best Male Artiste in African Inspirational Music’, ‘Breakout Artiste of the Year’, ‘Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Pop’, and ‘Best African Duo, Group or Band’.
In this year’s awards, the two-time AFRIMA-Award-winning artiste Nikita Kering’ who won in the category of ‘Revelation of the African Continent’, and ‘Best Female Artiste in Eastern Africa’ back in 2019 is back again. She was nominated also in the ‘Songwriter of the Year in Africa’ category but managed to win two out of the three awards.
“I cannot describe the honor that it is to be listed amongst such talents! Thank you Afrim Awards, voting begins soon! Let’s bring this home,” Nikita Kering’ wrote on social media after learning about her nomination.
Other artistes who scored nomination are Aya Nakamura, Burna Boy, Zuchu, Rayvanny, Nandy, Afrie, Omah Lay with six nominations, Wizkid, Rotimi, Diamond Platnumz, Koffi Olomide, Focalistic, Davido, Sauti Sol, Fally Ipupa, Makhadzi, MHD, GIMS, Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Iba One, Buju, Kikimoteleba, Master KG, Alikiba, Bensoul, Zinoleesky, and so many others.
The voting will officially begin on 27th September 2021 and is scheduled to end on 20th November 2021 where you’ll get the opportunity to vote for your favorite musician.
The event will be held from 19th to 21st November 2021 in Lagos, Nigeria.
