Sarkodie signs lucrative deal with Sony Music Publishing

4 mins read

Sarkodie has officially joined the winning team at Sony Music.

The Ghanaian regarded as one of the great rappers to ever graced a microphone to rap in all of Africa if not the very best has finally signed a lucrative deal with the international conglomerate that will see his music reach even more people outside of Africa even easier.

Being the founder and CEO of his Sarkcess Music empire, Sarkodie has for the most part of his career, ran his music empire, his entire music catalog as an independent artiste and it has been working for him for years; owning his masters and all but being an independent artiste, you can only do so much.

Sarkodie has managed to stay on top of the world as an independent artiste for years, now imagine what he can achieve as a signed artiste, let that simmer in and marinate as you read on the next paragraph.

Sarkodie whose real name is Michael Owusu Addo has signed a publishing deal under his record label Sarkcess Music with Sony Music Publishing that will see him soar into the international music arena.

“We are beyond excited to welcome Sarkodie to the SMP[Sony Music Publishing] family! Great things to come,” Sony Music Publishing sent out the tweet.

“Glad to be part of the SMP family,” Sarkodie also posted on social media saying how glad he is to have sign the lucrative deal with the international music giant choosing to keep the whole thing short and sweet, no writing a long post on social media.

You won’t be lying if you’d say that it’s Africa to the world now that Sarkodie, Wizkid, and Davido are signed under the same international music conglomerate.

Sony/ATV has worldwide deals with Michael Jackson, Drake, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Davido, Shakira, Prince, Ed Sheeran, Kanye West, Jay Z, Wizkid, Britney Spears, Maluma, Zayn, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Enrique Iglesias, J. Cole, Whitney Houston, Pitbull, Daddy Yankee, Eminem, Lady Gaga, Hitmaka Cardi B, and the list goes on and on and on.

This means that it would be easier for Sarkodie to get to work with any of the aforementioned internationally celebrated artiste under Sony/ATV as opposed to when he was an independent artiste.
