Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore thanks Kenyans who supported him during his cancer treatment

Bob Collymore has thanked all Kenyans of good will who supported him as he went through his cancer treatment in the UK.

Mr. Coolymore the man at the helm of the most profitable company in East and Central Africa Safaricom L.t.d was speaking to Jeff Koinange on his JKL show Wednesday night.

“After a series of blood tests I was advised to seek more medical care and I went to Britain where it as confirmed that I had an acute myeloid Leukemia a form of cancer of the blood”. Mr Coolymore shared.

He went ahead to share how the experience was a bit tough at some point although he said he was not too worried as his sister is a cancer survivor and has been cancer-free for more than 5 years.

Mr Coolymore was away for about nine months and jetted back in the country about a week ago.

“At first I thought I was going to do chemotherapy form 3 months then I will be back in the country to continue with my job but after the 3 months the doctor said I had to continue for a few months so that I do not have a relapse”. Mr Coolymore said.

He went ahead to thank many Kenyans who sent messages of goodwill.

“I received a lot of messages of support from many people some who I even don’t know I may never even meet”. And I appreciate.

While he away though safaricom made record breaking profits something Mr. Coolmore thanked and attributed to his able team that was on the ground while he was away.
