Cord co-principal Moses Wetangula has dismissed party leader Raila Odinga’s ongoing Western tour.

Bungoma Senator says Raila Odinga should not vie for the presidency in 2017 but instead let him run.

He also dismissed the large crowds witnessed during rallies held in Western Kenya by Raila Odinga.

Moses Wetangula on Thursday night July,21 asked his co-principal Raila Odinga to step down from his presidential bid saying there are slim chances of him winning in the elections.

Wetangula said that Odinga has vied for the presidency three times and failed, he should, therefore, give the opportunity to him or to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

“It is now time for our brother Raila with all his dynamism and support that he enjoys to make us a back-up to a fresh team that is able to deliver,” Wetang’ula said on KTN.

He further reminded his co-principal that the large crowds witnessed during rallies held in Western Kenya will not translate into votes.

Wetangula said he believes the CORD coalition has the capacity to win 2017 elections but asked Raila to consider that large crowds do not translate into votes.

“Wherever we go one must bear in mind that crowds are not votes so we have to go much deeper than that,” Wetang’ula said.

He claimed that Odinga’s voters are tired of voting for him only for the votes to be rigged, therefore urging him to allow fresh people in the race

“People vote for you, the votes are stolen and they start to think that even if they vote for you again the same thing will happen,” he added.

The Bungoma senator maintains that CORD will not win the 2017 elections if Raila Odinga runs as the presidential candidate.
