R.I.P: Grisly road accident kills young innocent girls in Kisii

2 mins read

Six people have been confirmed dead in a grisly road accident on the Kisii-Kilgoris road at Etora area. The accident involved three vehicles; a canter, a Toyota Noah, and a salon car.

The saloon car was on its way from Ogembo town to Kisii when it collided head-on with the Noah. All the people in the Noah reportedly died, besides one from the salon car.

The accident is said to have happened after the seven-seater Noah matatu heading to Ogembo town attempted to overtake the canter.

It collided head-on with the oncoming saloon car before the driver of the canter lost control and landed on the Noah smashing it to pieces.

The salon car had a mechanic training an intern.

According to Dr. Ondari Otieno, CEO Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, three people have been admitted at the facility for treatment; two critically injured, and one with minor bruises.

Dr Otieno said they received five bodies of the accident’s victims, which are lying at the hospital’s mortuary.

Another body was transferred later as rescue operations continued at the scene.

Rescuers are still trying to rescue a man who is stuck in the mangled wreckage of the canter.

Sameta AP commander Robert Mulwa says the Noah was at high speed.

Kisii Governor James Ongwae has sent his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.
