Johnson Sakaja was sworn in as the new Nairobi governor at an event where rapper Nyamari Ongegu alias Nyashinski was the sole performer.

Media personalities Jimmy Gathu and Massawe Japani were the Master of Ceremony (MC) at the event, and the only celebrity figures apart from Nyashinski.

The two MCs ushered Nyashinski to the stage to perform and he kicked off with his hit song ‘Marathon Runner.’

The rapper then performed ‘Hayawani’ before he paused to congratulate Sakaja who he previously interviewed and who also confessed to being a huge fan of his music.

“Nairobi how are you feeling? Let me see you wave your hand in the air one time…congratulations are in order to my friend. It’s my honour to perform here today at this wonderful ceremony. We’ve put our trust in you, we know you will do your best,” Nyashinski said.

The rapper performed one more song ‘Mungu Pekee’ before he left the stage. Nyashinski’s performance marked the end of music entertainment at the event as there were no any other musician who was hired to perform.

Sakaja’s decision to hire his friend Nyashinski as the sole performer at his swearing-in ceremony has not gone down well with some netizens who lodged complaints on social media.

Meanwhile it also emerged that Nyashinski and his wife Zipporah Bett are expecting baby number two. The rapper was accompanied to KICC by his wife whose baby bump was very conspicuous.
