Police say they’ve found the weapon that was used by people who killed Jacob Juma.
This comes weeks after the businessman was shot dead by unknown people, in a case believed to be an act of assassination. Days after the crime had occoured and scene cleared, the Inspector General of Police, IG, Joseph Boinnet said two spent cartridges were recovered from the location where Jacob Juma was found.
The IG now says that from “the Ballistic examination of two empty cartridges recovered from the scene, the bullets are said to have come from an AK-47 rifle recovered during recent encounters,’.
One of those gunned down during the Sunday incident was a former police officer based at Wilson Airport police station.
The man, whose real names the police declined to reveal, was known on Facebook as ‘Birarutosha’.
Nairobi CID boss Ireri Kamwende said the four men were part of a criminal group that carjacks people in the city and then demands ransom from their families.
This comes after A rifle, a pistol and 31 bullets were recovered from thugs killed near Nyayo stadium in Nairobi.
In a statement, Joseph Boinnet says that 28 people have recorded statements in connection to the late Jacob Juma’s death.
This is the first AK47 recovered in the hands of criminals since the mogul Jacob Juma was murdered.
