Junet Mohamed became the first Kenyan Somali to be elected Member of the National Assembly in Nyanza Province.

He represents Suna East constituency in Migori county.

He is a member of the Orange Democratic Movement and a Coalition Member of Coalition for Reforms & Democracy

Being elected as a member of parliament hailing from a ‘minority’ community considering he was born in Mandera but grew up in Migori county.

He believes it’s a clear sign that Kenyans have matured democratically and anybody with good vision could be elected despite his background.
