Pastor Victor Kanyari said many people sent him money as consolation and as contributions following the murder of his sister Starlet Wahu.
However the preacher reversed all the contributions that had been sent to him for Starlet’s send-off.
Speaking at his church, Kanyari said he did not want any contributions for his sister’s burial.
The controversial preacher revealed that he catered for all burial costs from his own pockets.
“Hata na wale walikua wananitumia mchango nilikua nareverse. Nilisema mimi sitaki kuchangiwa juu ya mazishi ya sister yangu nikatoa pesa yote na kusimamia kila kitu,” Kanyari said.
Pastor Kanyari also explained why his sister was quickly buried on Saturday, January 6, 2024 – just three days after she was brutally murdered.
He said that after losing his sister Starlet, there was nothing else to do but lay her to rest.
The controversial preacher added that he was the one who convinced his family to quickly bury Starlet because he didn’t want to deal with the pressure from the media.
“Wakati dada yangu alikufa hakukua na jambo ingine la kufanya ila kumzika. Na mimi nikaambia familia tumzike haraka kwa sababu sitaki hawa watu wa media wanisumbue. Watu walikua wanasema Kanyari, Sister ya Kanyari, niliona watanisumbua,” he said.
Pastor Kanyari additionally revealed that the burial was private and only attended by close relatives. He said in total only 20 people attended Wahu’s sendoff.
“Niliambia mama yangu maana amekufa na hatafufuka, tumzike. Alikufa Thursday saa kumi, Friday tukatayarisha kila kitu na Saturday saa mbili tukamzika tukiwa watu 20. Hiyo mazishi ikaisha maana hatukutaka aibu na hata hatukutaka mchango,” Kanyari said.
