Veteran actor Ondiek Nyuka Kwota, known for his role in Vioja Mahakamani, recently opened up about his troubled past and the bad decisions that affected his family.

In an interview with Jeff Kuria, Ondiek candidly shared how fame led him into a spiral of alcoholism and adultery.

Recalling an incident where he was seen drunk by fans of his TV show, Ondiek said, “You see, you even give the show a bad name. People think you are a joke.”

This public perception compounded his personal issues, leading to financial mismanagement and tax arrears, which he attributed to salary delays.

“At that time, the landlord came to demand money, and I told VOK that they had not paid us yet. Yes, they hadn’t, but you see, I was earning money but not paying rent. I was using it to enjoy myself, then coming home broke,” he explained.

Ondiek acknowledged that his popularity and the pressure it brought contributed significantly to his downward spiral.

“Today, I am alive because of God. I thank God for saving my life. He loved me when I was not a good person. I lacked manners for many years. Then I went to Mombasa, where it was worse,” he admitted.

Realizing the destructive path he was on, Ondiek decided to change his lifestyle.

“You find that we lived this life—you have a woman, you go there, another one. You live a very difficult life. Things go wrong, and you end up making life difficult for your family. They lack basic needs because you live life in the fast lane,” he added.

Ondiek also shared how his father’s alcoholism impacted his upbringing, making life challenging for their family.

“I kept telling God, I don’t want this life anymore. My father was an alcoholic, he made life difficult. I asked God to remove the spirit of immorality. You may find it running in your family,” he revealed. Ondiek’s plea to God was heartfelt: “Don’t let it get to me,” he prayed, recalling how he would cry when drunk, seeking divine intervention to change his ways.

Ondiek Nyuka Kwota’s candid revelations highlight the struggles behind the scenes of fame and serve as a testament to the power of personal transformation and faith.
