A veteran Tanzanian singer Mr Nice, who is also one of the founders of Bongo Flava, has exuded confidence that his music record will last quite a long time.

Mr Nice has confidently stated that there is no musician in the current generation and even the next generation who can beat him in the sales records of his music, and the amount of money he got from the distribution of his work.

The ‘Fagilia’ hitmaker, who was speaking in an interview with Clouds TV in Tanzania, noted that when he was the king of music in East Africa there were no digital platforms for downloading, streaming and distributing music.

Mr Nice said that during that period he distributed more than one million CD tapes and collected more than Tsh10 billion/Ksh58 million.

“Hakuna mtu anayeweza kufikia rekodi yangu. Kama kuna mtu ambaye anaweza kuifikia si aje hapa aseme. Lakini wanajua hawawezi. Mimi nilikuwa nauza CD, nilikuwa siuzi Online. Na kama niliweza kuuza Zaidi ya CD milioni moja; wachana na Tapes, wachana na VHS. Hizo ni CDs pekee. Nilitengeneza mamilioni, kitu ambacho hakuna msanii anaweza akatengeneza sasa hivi,” Mr Nice said.

The veteran singer got angry when the interviewer asked him to prove that he made the said amount from selling CDs .

“Eti unauliza kama iliweza kufika bilioni moja? Kaka hebu niulize swali jingine.. mimi nilipiga Zaidi ya bilioni 10 kwenda mbele huko,” Mr Nice said.

The legendary singer lost most of his fortune when he fell from grace to grace. He got broke when he relocated to South Africa at the height of his music career.

Mr Nice moved back to Tanzania after blowing up his fortune in South Africa. He later relocated to Uganda while trying to resuscitate his music career before he ended up in Kenya.

The celebrated musician currently stays in Athi River in Kenya.
