Nick Okong’o Okoth has captured the attention and admiration of Kenyan netizens after giving his post-fight interview at the Olympics.

Nick Okoth has been eliminated from the Olympics after he lost to Mongolian Tsendbaatar Erdenebat in the men’s Feather(52 – 57kg) bout.

Kenya’s Nick “Commander” Okoth lost to Mongolian Tsendbaater Erdenebat in a round of 32 bouts at the Kokugikan Arena during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Saturday.

The Mongolian won by a split decision of 3-2, after winning the first and the third sets 3-2, while Okoth edged him in the second round, also 3-2.

Nick Okoth was emotional losing to Mongolian Tsendbaatar Erdenebat claiming he was sure that he won the bout adding that even the Mongolian was shocked to see his hands getting raised as a victor in the bout.

 

Nick Okoth who is also a soldier was emotional because this was his last Olympics and he wanted to retire from the sports as a gold medalist.

What has captured the attention of netizens is how Nick Okoth gave his interview in the Swahili and Sheng language.

He has since gotten a lot of love, appreciation, admiration, and cheers from Kenya online for showing his Patriotism by doing his post-fight interview in Swahili.
