Nay wa Mitego, who was forced to go into hiding after dropping a song criticizing President Samia Suluhu, has now been banned from performing in Tanzania.
The rapper, whose real name is Emmanuel Elibariki, has been barred from performing in the country due to his song ‘Amkeni’.
Although he did not say how long he has been banned from performing concerts, the artist’s lawyer, Jebra Kambole, has confirmed to the BBC that the artiste has been gagged by BASATA.
In November 2022, Nay Wa Mitego went underground after dropping the song ‘Sauti Ya Watu’ which criticizes the government of President Samia Suluhu.
In the song, Nay makes a strong attack on the government of president Suluhu even though he starts by apologizing to her because he knew he would offend her in the message in the song.
