National 7s Team Through To Quarter Finals

The National Rugby sevens team has  booked a place in the Main Cup quarter finals  of the ongoing 7th leg of the HSBC IRB  world series in Hong Kong after finishing second in group ‘A’ behind New Zealand.

The team started on high note, beating Samoa 24-0 in their first group match but slumped to a 5-0 loss to former champions New Zealand and 17-10 against France.

Despite losing two group matches the Benjamine Ayimba’s boys sailed through to the Main Cup quarter finals with superior points against France and Samoa.

The team will now face defending Champions Fiji or Wales in the main cup quarter finals Sunday.

The team currently lies in the 8th position in the series standings on 53 points after picking on one point in the 6th leg in Vancouver.

Meanwhile the national women Rugby team thrashed Sri Lanka 29-0 in the Plate finals in the women’s tournament in Hong Kong.
