As Malindi Decide,Mwea MP Peter Gitau has been arrested in Malindi. He is said to have been buying voters ID cards in order for them not to vote in the Malindi parliamentary by-election.
ODM Director of Commutations, Mr. Philip Etale has also been arrested in the same town after being suspected of having election material,
Ferdinand Waititu was reportedly asked to leave Malindi as he is not registered as a voter in that area.
The Malindi seat fell vacant following the appointment of Dan Kazungu as cabinet secretary for mining.
The race has arguably remained a contest between Jubilee’s Charo and ODM’s Willy Mtengo though there are other candidates as well. They are: David Mangi (Shirikisho Party of Kenya), Reuben Katana (Kadu-Asili), Ali Attas Shariff (Labour Party of Kenya), Peter Ponda (Chama cha Uzalendo) and Nelson Gunga (Federal Party of Kenya).
