The MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) are back after four year break, with Uganda picked to host the 2021 MAMAs.
The last MAMAs award ceremony was held in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2016. The award gala stopped feting musicians after key sponsors pulled out.
MAMAs was launched in 2008 to celebrate African and international talent and achievement. The award recognizes and reward musicians, trailblazers and those who are shining a light on the continent’s diverse talent and creativity by instilling a positive impact on African music and youth culture over the previous year.
