Governor Mike Sonko is the latest mainstream public figure and the first politician to cosign the up and coming Gengetone heavyweights in Mbogi Genje.

The Mbogi Genge members that include Militan, Smady Tings & Guzman Teddy all from Umoja estate have grasped the attention of almost everyone in the country with their unique sound rapping in nothing but Sheng.

Mbogi Genje has so far been cosigned by Huddah Monroe, Eko Dydda, Octopizzo, and now Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who has not only pledge to support them in every way imaginable but he’s also vowed to use his connections to make sure that the group soars even higher than their expectation.

Mike Sonko hosted them in his sleek office in Nairobi where he handed them some cash to enable them to facilitate a seamless production of their upcoming song/s and projects.

In keeping with my commitment to support our artists and nurture talent in Nairobi especially during the hard times occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mike Sonko said, adding, “today I hosted the Mbogi Genje music group from Umoja.”

Mike Sonko revealed that Mbogi Genje has 10 new songs inside their music vaults that are yet to be released and his intentions of sponsoring the productions of all the songs on the pipeline.

“The group currently has written 10 new songs, and I will support the production of all of them.” The Nairobi Governor went on.

Mike Sonko who caught the attention of the entire world after handing out Henessy as part of the food packs handed out to the less vulnerable in the society gave the group a brand new Mac Book Pro to assist them in editing their projects.

“I will also provide them with a brand new Mac Book Pro to help them in editing their work, before setting up a fully equipped recording studio for them.”

Sonko is also working on making sure that the group also secures both private and corporate gigs to make sure they get what’s their worth.

“To ensure sustainability, I will facilitate them to establish an operating base in their neighborhood, while utilizing my networks to help them secure corporate and private gigs where they will be earning.

For a long term solution, my administration will sponsor a Talent Incubation and Development Bill to enable the County set aside funds to support the diverse talents across Nairobi.”

The Nairobi Governor who met the Mbogi Genje’s Govana opened up to say that his ultimate goal is to make sure that the talented youth in the country can have an international place through their music just like Nigeria, South Africa and Tanzania are currently doing with established artistes like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Tekno, Falz, Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, Alikiba, AKA, Nasty C, Kwesta, Sjava, Riky Rick and so many others are currently putting their countries on the map through their music.
