Michael Olunga: Scoring 8 goals in one game is more than I could ever imagine

Kenyan striker Michael Olunga set record on Sunday when he scored eight goals for his Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol  in their last game of the season.

Kashiwa Reysol thrashed Kyoto Sanga 13-1 in a Japanese second-tier league match played at the Sankyo Frontier Stadium in Kashiwa.

Olunga’s club has now been promoted to Japanese top tier league J1. The Kenyan international finished second best top scorer with 27 goals, one shy of Brazilian forward Leonardo who plays for Albirex Niigata.

Olunga took to social media to celebrate after his goal scoring spree on Sunday. The Harembee Star player said scoring 8 goals in one game is more than he could ever imagine he could do.

“What a way to end the season. Scoring 8 goals is more than I could ever imagine but by God’s grace it was possible.I want to thank everyone who supported me through out the campaign. Until next season . Graçias . GOD ABOVE ALL 🙏,” wrote Michael Olunga.
