Rapper Stivo Simple Boy revealed that he was forced to participate in clout-chasing antics when he was signed to Men In Business (MIB) record label.
The singer said that he did not like to take part in publicity stunts especially with other women because he is a married man.
“Sikuwa sawa na kiki, nililazimika kufanya hivyo. Uliponiona na magari ya kifahari, hiyo ilikuwa biashara lakini ilifika mahali meneja alipanga kiki na wanawake. Kwa sababu nina mke, kwa nini waweke wanawake wengine kwenye ukurasa wangu na kusema uongo kwamba ninawatamani?” Stivo said.
Grace Atieno, the rapper’s wife, said she felt bad when her husband was forced to take part in clout-chasing antics with other women.
“Nilimwambia meneja kuwa anachofanya si kizuri na hakuweza kunisikiliza,” she said.
Stivo said he would only get 30% of the money he worked for, with the label taking 70%.
“Video zangu zilikuwa zikishutiwa na wasamaria wema lakini bado uongozi ungepata zile asilimia 70. Lakini sababu kubwa iliyonifanya niondoke kwenye lebo hiyo ni kwa sababu meneja na mke wangu hawakuwa na maelewano mazuri, kuna mambo mke wangu alihisi hayaendi sawa. lakini meneja hakumsikiliza,” he said.
MIB ultimately decided to sever ties with Stivo amid accusations and counter-accusations.
“We would like to notify you that we no longer wish to proceed with our musical contract with you. This letter serves as a notice to you and our intent to terminate the contract is a lawful and in accordance with protocols,” MIB said in a letter dated June 26, 2023.
“Please note that your cooperation will be needed during this period of transition for smoothing running of termination process. Termination of the contract will be effective as of 31st July hence we have 35 days of tabling both parties’ interest for smooth transition, during the process all projects will b paused and a lawful process of events will be followed in accordance,” the letter added.
