MI Abaga drops his moniker after using it for 15 long years

3 mins read

MI Abaga promised his fans the other day that he was done getting referred to as the one and only Mister Incredible and/or MI for short as an acronym.

The talented rapper who doesn’t need any introduction whatsoever in African hip hop today is as accomplished as a rapper and an OG in the rap scene as we know having been consigned by every mainstream rapper across the continent, he has also worked with the upper echelon rappers from Africa yet he still manages to maintain his humbleness by staying down to earth.

The rapper commands respect not only in his native Nigeria but across Africa and the entire world just so it’s clear who MI Abaga is and how big a brand he is as a rapper.

It honestly came as a shock to millions of his fans across the globe after he announced that he will be dropping his moniker MI Abaga for another one which is not known to most of us, at least not yet, he promised to let us all know all about his new moniker as soon as possible.

He disclosed that his highly anticipated studio album would be the very last time he uses MI Abaga as a moniker.

It is quite sad that he’s dropping MI Abaga as his moniker because it’s like juxtaposing him with Jay Z dropping his moniker.

“After over 15 years as Mister Incredible[MI], I will be retiring the name “MI Abaga” and taking on a new name for my new project Bcuz,” he shared in part on social media.

He also mentioned that he’s about to drop one of the hottest studio projects yet that Africa has never seen before, the studio album will drop in August.

“My new album hard AF and it deserves a new name,” he continued.

The rapper also got to perform at an event at “The Vibe” where he performed for the last time as MI Abaga

Right after the performance, the ‘You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives’ hitmaker was super grateful to all the fans, family, and friends who pulled up to the show to show him support through social media posts.

MI Abaga confirmed that he’s going to pick The Guy as a new moniker going forward as soon as his studio album with the same name drops later on in August which is a few days away.

I am a Pan-Afrikanist to the core and love to let the world know what they are missing in Africa. I might do that through music and some interesting posts from time to time so please bare with me.

I will always be real though, that's a guarantee.
