Mejja recalls brush with death after undergoing appendix operation

Mejja underwent a lifesaving operation to fix his digestive system that nearly got his other organs infected.

The rapper opened up about the surgery that saved his life while speaking during a recent interview with
Mwafreeka Mwaf on his ‘Iko Nini’ podcast.

Mejja that he was diagnosed with complications in his appendix after he blacked out while at an event.

“Nilijipata kwa ambulance,” Mejja recalled.

He said that he used get a lot of painful stitches before the diagnosis.

“Sasa yangu ilikua imepile up inakuja kama stich, nashindwa hii stich haiishi alafu ilikua painful,” Mejja said.

The rapper said doctors took him through a battery of tests before he was diagnosed with the complications in his appendix.

The rapper disclosed that he was chilling at home when the results from his tests came in. He was informed that his condition was at a critical stage and that he had undergo emergency surgery – appendectomy.

An appendectomy, also known as an appendicectomy, is a surgical operation in which the vermiform appendix is removed. Appendectomy is normally performed as an urgent or emergency procedure to treat complicated acute appendicitis. Appendectomy may be performed laparoscopically or as an open operation. [sic]

Mejja was wheeled into surgery moments after he got his results. He said that doctors told him the infection in his apendix was so severe and that he is was not operated on it would have infected other organs.

The rapper disclosed that his appendix had to be removed.

“Nilitolewa hii, sina hii organ moja – appendix,”  he said.

Mejja’s revelation comes after he went public with his throat illness that nearly robbed him of his voice and music career.
