Maxine Wahome is a kindergarten teacher by profession and a revered rally driver.
She got interested into racing from her father who was a rally driver and enthusiast.
Maxine first drove a car when she was 15 years old.
Her private life was thrown on to our faces like a boomerang after a court case whose details were protected from public knowledge at the beginning spread like bush fire across the internet.
After speculations, and nature of injuries after the alleged fight, it later emerged that Maxine Wahome was allegedly in a domestic argument that turned fatal which involved her boyfriend, the late Asad Khan. It was alleged that she was actually the victim.
We might never know what happened on that fateful night because her boyfriend and legendary rally drive Asad Khan who was known as ‘Kalulu’ by peers and friends is no more.
Asad passed on after fighting for his life at the Avenue Hospital’s HDU and was buried according to Islamic ways; a day after his demise at Kariakor Muslim Cemetery.
His brother, Adil claims that Maxine hurt his late brother Asad KHAN on Jamhuri Day after she allegedly came home intoxicated from a dinner party she had attended.
Adil further stated that “Maxine returned home after a dinner party drunk and a severe brawl resulted, leaving him with serious head and leg injuries.”
Adil also added that it was obvious from the wounds his brother had that he had been attacked by other people who were in Maxine’s company.
In an interview with Spice FM done 5 months ago, Maxine Wahome shared her life story.
She spoke about her life as a teacher who teaches 2 to 3 year old kids at a Montessori school.
She went to school to be an elementary school teacher however her rally adrenaline comes from her passion.
What I found interesting is that Asad Khan was truly and really instrumental in her success story.
Maxine received rallying training from the late Asad Khan. He also reportedly gave her family a lot of support and assisted her hone her talent to emerge as a champion in World Rally Championship which made her become as huge and sensational as she is today.
Maxine Wahome made history by winning the WRC3 championship round at home and being the first female from Kenya to do so.
Asad was her coach and in addition to sharing skills and knowledge, he gave her his car to race with, and they would share it when they had races.
The late Asad Khan famously known as ‘Kalulu’ eventually built her a personal vehicle which she currently uses.
Asad and Maxine were inseparable these two, they loved each and supported each other so much.
Maxine was detained by police on charges of serious harm but was later freed on bail.
She might receive a life sentence according to Kenya law if she is prosecuted and found guilty for the crime.
Adil promised he “would seek justice for his late brother!”
Maxine Wahome had previously been detained by police and appeared in court but was later released on a Ksh 100,000 cash bail.
Kenyans are still demanding for justice for Asad’s yet to be unraveled death.
