The things that are going on this world are truly crazy. Last week I wrote an article about a primary school girl who eloped with a man just after KCPE exams began. This story is surely the rejoinder to that article. Although the cops have not confirmed whether the two cases are one and the same, we are all smart enough to put two and two together.
So what happened? A 19-year-old man in Bondo Sub-county, Siaya Counnty has committed suicide over fear of being being arrested. The man, Richard Ochieng’ Odhiambo was found hanging on a tree in Utonga village on Sunday. Villagers say that he had recently eloped with a primary school girl in a nearby village before the girl was traced by authorities.
The incident was confirmed by Maranda Divisional AP Commandant Boaz Odero. He said that the bodaboda operator who lived with his mother went missing after he was traced with the minor, only to be found dead a day later. Odera said:
“The suspect may have committed suicide for fear he would be arrested in connection with that incident.”
The deceased’s body was found hanging in a bush near the South Sakwa Water Project Intake, adjacent to Utonga beach. The body has since been removed to Bondo Sub-county Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem as investigations into the matter begin. Again, this incident is pretty sad. This guy committed suicide over some very poor decisions he made. Now he has made an even poorer decision, one that he cannot undo. That folks, is the finality of death!
