The untimely death of Riky Rick has shocked the hip hop universe, especially in Africa because we’ve lost not only one of the best mainstream rappers yet but also a true, hardworking businessman, a role model, and a fashionista who cannot be replaced by anyone and/or anything in the world.

Riky Rick passed away when he was en route to the hospital after he was found by his management team in his mansion in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Hip hop Africa is gutted after the news of his death was confirmed by his family who has asked the general public to give them space to mourn in peace before announcing the funeral arrangements.

Among the many African rap artistes in the hip hop scene who have mourned the Boss Zonke is the Kenyan-established and African revered rapper Khaligraph Jones who also happens to be an award-winning rapper representing the East African hip hop in the mainstream hip hop scene.

Khaligraph Jones mourned the late Riky Rick on a heartfelt social media post on Instagram saying that indeed African hip hop scene is sad after losing one of the best rappers to ever do it at the highest level in the rap game.

He also noted that he tried reaching out the ‘Pick You Up’ hitmaker back in 2018 in an effort of working with him on a record together but the project didn’t come to fruition because Riky Rick didn’t get to see the DM that he had sent him.

“Sad Day For African Hip Hop, RIP Champ, tried to reach out to you in 2018 but God Had other plans, Rest Easy,” Khaligraph Jones shared on Instagram.

This is the DM message that Khaligraph Jones shared to Riky Rick whose real name is Rikhado Makhado, he sent it on the 6th day of February 2018.

“WhatsGood Blood, been trying to get at you for a while now, am a big fan of your work aside from being a rapper as well, I wanna put in some work with you as well.”

Prior to Riky Rick’s death, he was literally on top of the world, he had recently signed up a deal with African Bank, his annual Cotton Fest event was already on the schedule and sold out and he was at peace with everyone and loving his family as a good family man should.

His death will forever be felt not only in South Africa but across Africa.

Cassper Nyovest also changed his Twitter profile picture with that of Riky Rick who has been his friend for years before they fell off briefly. The two might have fell off a little bit but the love between Boss Zonke and Mufasa was always there and will forever be there.
