Kenya was saddened by learning about the death of the legendary rapper Chris Kantai yesterday and most people took to social media to send their condolences to family and friends of the late pioneer to say how much an influence he was to them. and how he changed the rap game. Not so many people came out publicly to help out the rapper who was battling with alcoholism for many years though.

Actually one of the baddest rappers today who is putting Kenyan rap music to the international scene, Khaligraph Jones is one of the rappers who made an effort to help out the late rapper by working with him on his hit record ‘Ting Bado Balo’ released three years ago and actually taking time to give him a platform to work with him after he[Chris Kantai] recovered from alcoholism.

Khaligraph Jones recently shared a video of himself doing an interview with one, Amina three years ago calling Chris Kantai his “Jay Z” and that it was his long term dream to work with the legend himself, Chris Kantai and it finally came to pass.

“A lot of people have dreams of meeting Jay Z, and Kanye but me Kantai  at that time, he was my Jay Z , they don’t make OGs like that anymore, Khaligraph Jones is the last of a dying breed after Kantai” he said in part in the clip he shared via Instagram.

Taking about the same video he shared on Instagram, Khaligraph Jones said: “This is 3 years ago when I did a song with the Late Kris Kantai but instead of the media motivating during his comeback, they only talked about how miserable he was cause of alcoholism even after he was done with rehab and was fully reformed”

He also went on to advice about taking care of our living legends when they are still alive instead of us waiting for them to die so that we can talk about how legendary they were.

“Let’s Stop waiting for our pioneers to die so that we can talk about how they are legends and inspired us while they were alive, I know some Artists who paved the way for us who are undergoing through depression right now, Lets help them now, Rest in Peace Kantai” he added.
