The primary suspect in Keagan Githua’s gruesome murder has been arrested by the DCI, and the murder weapon found.

Keagan Githua, 24, received his Information Technology degree from Strathmore University recently.

Feelings Devone Mboya Odero was detained last night after his arrest at the busy Githurai Matatu Termini, where he loitered and engaged in “kamagira” activity, preying on gullible bystanders.

Keagan was stabbed in the chest by robbers riding a motorcycle after they stole his cell phone, and the suspect immediately after being apprehended showed detectives where he had buried the murder weapon.

The motorbike rider who drove Odero to Ridgeways the morning of the attack was Dennis Mburu Kimani, who was located by detectives after more questioning last night.

After a brief chase in which he attempted to elude the detectives’ dragnet, Kimani was apprehended in the Ngomongo neighborhood of Githurai and his motorcycle was seized.

The two were apprehended after detectives concluded their inquiries into the grisly murder of the 24-year-old on October 30, 2022, which sparked a public uproar over the city’s increasing number of attacks on innocent bystanders.

The case was thoroughly investigated by detectives based at DCI Starehe, supported by their counterparts from the prestigious Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), who carried out a detailed analysis of the gang’s tactics, Odero and Kimani were arrested yesterday, following the arrest of their four other accomplices earlier in the week.

The Starehe-based sleuths’ dawn operation resulted in the arrest of the first suspect at a public restroom along Nairobi’s River Road, which helped them build a stronger case and led to the subsequent arrests of the other suspects.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) hopes that the detention of every suspect connected to this brutal murder will provide some measure of justice for Keagan Githua’s family and reassure the public that DCI will exhaust all reasonable avenues in its investigation of all crimes committed by these senseless criminals.
