4 mins read

Kayvo Kforce is one of the best unsung rappers in Kenya that has been holding down the hip hop industry for years, consistently and maintained his relevancy over the years.

Kforce real name Kevin Ambalwa is somewhat an epitome of a real, versatile authentic hip hop artiste that has been representing Kibera for years without losing his originality and his recent ‘Different Freestyle’ record proves this.

Kayvo Kforce released one of the best rap studio albums to come from Kenya that was highly acclaimed since its release to date making him one of the best rappers currently holding the hip hop culture in the country, other rappers notwithstanding.

It’s only the 24th day of January 2021 and Kayvo Kforce has shown his consistency by releasing his first single of the year and getting featured in arguably the biggest East Africa collaboration rap record between Kenya and Tanzania in 2021.

Kikosi Kazi featured top Kenyan rappers in their ‘Last Warriors’ song

Kforce didn’t come to play in 2021 and clearly, we are seeing that to be true.

In his ‘Different Freestyle’ record, everything Kayvo Kforce says is real and relatable especially if you are coming from the slums and/or ghetto.

Here’s the quotable lyrics of ‘Different Freestyle’ by Kayvo Kforce:

I’m from the slums where there’s no opportunities
but you got to hustle regardless
if you’re from the ghetto you know this
i’m moving different you know this
your boy no longer getting notices
no longer rapping hoping that someone notices
we getting to a mini offices
i’m just tryna pay these mortages
I kill niggas call me hessy
while we sipping on that hessy
rolling with niggas who got the same energy
only prayers from my enemies
I hope they praying that we never meet
got a 100 niggas in the streets
I know killas who don’t ever speak
but they action loud you gon cut the beat
my slum got my music on repeat
but i’m trying to rep more than just the streets
flows fire they gon feel the heat
aim higher like it’s smoking weed
ule kijana wa harlem
every seasons I got em
hating skills got I got em
in secret they wishing they had em
bad minds stay away from them
and from a man trying to tell a man
Kenya hakuna rapper mwenye anaweza choma mans
they sleeping on me like a pillow man
it’s time to wake them up
the industry needs to be shaken up
came from the bottom we heading up
but still my niggas keep looking up
competition wako hosi
composition za ki OG
calculations za ki noti
street nigga siwezi piga magoti
kwa rap game ndio sitoki
mlinda lango kama choki
mi ndio mtafutaji so sichoki
mistari nazo huwa konki
it ain’t hard to tell it was either rapping or I was going to jail
