Bongo movie actress Frida Kajala Masanja has opened up about her failed marriage to legendary Tanzanian music producer P-Funk Majani.
Kajala and Majani got engaged almost two decades ago and were blessed with one beautiful baby girl together, Paula.
Speaking in an interview with a local radio station, Kajala revealed that their relationship started after the music producer bribed musicians who were close to him to send her to him.
“Tulikutana mitaani tu. Mimi nilikuwa mdogo bado nasoma alafu tukakutana. Aliniona alafu akatuma watu wanitafute,” Kajala said.
“Nilikuwa na ukaribu na wasanii kadhaa, aliwaambia wanitafute akiahidi kuwatayarishia albamu mzima bure. Basi wakanipeleka, walinidanganya kwanza tunakoenda. Rich One aliniamba tunaenda kuonana na mtu. Hawakuwa hata na magari tulipanda daladala. Tulienda kwa nyumba tukaoga tumesubiri tukaambiwa huyo mtu ametoka. Baadaye akarudi nikaona mtu nilikutana naye alafu nikampuuza. Nikamuuliza Rich One mbona hakuniambia anakonileta. Basi tukaanza kuongea hadi akatokea Paula,” she added.
The 40-year-old actress noted that she was never officially married to the music producer but they were just lovers who lived together for a while and then had a child together.
He said that their relationship never reached an official marriage because they were not mature at that time.
“Kipindi hicho nilikuwa bado mdogo. Ata yeye alikuwa na akili za kitoto bado. Kwa hiyo wote tulikuwa wadogo,” she said.
Kajala noted that the misunderstanding between them led to the breakdown of their ‘come-we-stay’ marriage and they went their separate ways.
“Tulishindwana tu. Nashukuru ameniachia Paula. Tuko sawa Tunashirikiana katika malezi,” she said.
The mother of one however revealed that Majani and her do not communicate regularly. She said that Paula is the one who usually talks to her father when the need arises.
However, she revealed that she has a very good relationship with P-Funk’s current wife and they talk a lot.
“Mke wake mshikaji wangu. Tunaongea sana. Sisi ni marafiki kabisa. Yeye ni wa kupiga stori na kuchat. Naweza kuwa sijaongea na P kwa miezi kadhaa ama miaka lakini mke wake tunaongea naye,” Kajala said.
Kajala claimed that she is currently dating a Kenyan politician with whom she is looking to have a child with.
