Bobi Wine has been under house arrest since January 15, just a day after Uganda’s shambolic presidential election.

Police and military personnel have surrounded Wine’s home in Kampala, restricting any movement in or out of his home.

“Everyone including media and my party officials are restricted from accessing me. @ZaakeFrancis
was arrested outside my gate as he made his way to my house, he was badly beaten by soldiers. He is now in Rubaga hospital,” Bobi Wine tweeted on Sunday January 17th.

United States ambassador to Uganda was blocked by Ugandan security forces from visiting  Bobi Wine on Monday January 18th.

Ambassador Natalie E. Brown went to Wine’s resident to check on his health and safety, because he has effectively been unable to leave his home with security forces surrounding his residence.

Besieged Wine had on Sunday also tweeted that he was running short of food supplies, and that the military couldn’t allow his wife to pick food from their garden.

“It’s now four days since the military surrounded our home and placed my wife and I under house arrest. We have run out of food supplies and when my wife tried to pick food from the garden yesterday, she was blocked and assaulted by the soldiers staged in our compound,” Wine tweeted.

Celebrated singer Juliana Kanyomozi has since called on Ugandan strongman Yoweri Museveni to allow Bobi Wine get food supplies.

“In the meantime can @HEBobiwine be allowed to access some food and supplies??. This is sickening,” Kanyomozi tweeted.

“You have come a long way @HEBobiwine, and yet you are still standing. You have inspired an entire generation. To say I’m proud of you is an understatement, I take my hat off for you! Big thank you to Barbie for always being your rock. Continue to walk in your calling. Be safe Folded hands.”
