Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone separated from his wife Daniella Atim in 2019 even though they are not divorced.
Daniella was seen in a video talking about the major reason why she left the legendary Ugandan singer.
In a short clip that is making rounds on social media, Daniella says she was forced to leave because Chameleone had become a drunkard and would come home in the morning.
“I left because at a certain point Jose was drinking too much, if you want the truth. He was drinking too much and there was at time he was coming home in the morning. There was a time he came home at 9am, another time at 9am and another time at midday, and he was dead drunk.
“I tried sitting him down and asked him what is it? what makes you drink like that?, and he had no reason. So i told him your children have grown, Abba for example has grown. You cannot live like this when your children growing up. So we gave him time and I saw nothing was happening so I told him I’m going home. You choose between your alcohol or me and the kids, so I left,” she said.

However, the video is not new. It was recorded in 2017 when Daniella dragged Chameleone to court demanding a divorce.
In 2017, Daniella walked out of their matrimonial home and filed for divorce at Nakawa Magistrate Court citing brutality but the pair managed to settle their differences and re-united.
However, in February 2019, Daniella and her children relocated the USA after Jose Chameleone splashed over $200,000 to secure a mansion in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Daniella and her kids have been living in Minneapolis since 2019 and Chameleone has been visiting from time to time.

In a post on her Instagram account in September 2023, Daniella penned a touching message to her first-born son, Abba, reflecting on their journey through life’s challenges.
Daniella recounted the challenges they faced, including living in a cold, damp basement room that flooded every spring.
At one point, Atim said she had to leave her other children with Abba, the eldest, while she went to work abroad.
“Dear son, one day you and I will sit under a bonfire and talk about it all. We shall talk about your cold dingy basement room that flooded every spring, we shall talk about how I went to ‘kyeyo’ for several days without return and left you in charge of your siblings plus an infant.
“We shall talk about how I so badly wanted you and your siblings to be able to drink milk every day; we shall talk about how I took up two full-time jobs because I wanted you all to go to good schools. We shall talk about that twin bunk bed that all six of us had to fit in.
“When all of that is done, we shall sit and laugh at it all; we shall laugh at how God has kept us through the hardships. We will testify about the goodness of God; we shall tell of how God kept elevating us; we shall tell of how He brought total strangers that helped us along the way.
“While we wait for that time, while we wait for the dollars to flow in so that I can send you all on that vacation I have promised for years, while we wait for the good life you always promise me, my boy, while we wait, I will stay committed to being your mother. I will stay committed to the pact I made with God at your birth, to raise you to be a Man of God.
“Like your name Abba, may you be the man people will always encounter and experience God. Like your name Abba, may you turn out to be a great father and husband. May God keep proving His faithfulness to you.
“Dear son, things do get better; let’s keep walking; it’s just a matter of time. Love, Mom.”
